The Nutcracker

Young Clara will once again invite us inside her imagination with The Nutcracker, a beloved tradition since its premiere in 1892. There are epic battles, beautiful dances, incredible displays of heartwarming joy and the inescapable feeling that you have witnessed a holiday classic that has made audiences smile for generations.

North Pointe Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker is an imaginative staging unlike you’ve ever seen before. The holiday classic is brought to life through use of integrated live narration that guides the audience through the story and enchants all ages with thrilling theatrical elements and colorful larger-than-life sets and costumes.

When we welcome our patrons back to the theater it will be with an updated production that will better reflect our organizational values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The performance venues in which NPB performs require that performers and audience members comply with the Covid protocols and mask mandates established by the theater. Both The Lorain Palace Theatre and Near West Theatre comply with local health authority mandates. However, each venue may have its own set of guidelines, over which NPB does not have control. Audience members must comply with the venue requirements. Questions on venue requirements should be directed to the venue directly.

All NPB performers, volunteers, and staff members will also comply with its internal procedures that are consistently re-evaluated with emerging data with the help of a medical advisor.

North Pointe Ballet recently held a virtual town hall to discuss the recent cultural audit that NPB staff participated in addressing necessary updates that better reflect NPB’s values of inclusivity. Cultural appropriations and the audit process were discussed, as well as updated processes for youth cast auditions, casting, and rehearsals.

The Nutcracker Field Trip

North Pointe Ballet makes classical ballet accessible to everyone by providing this field trip opportunity annually at a low cost to students. The Nutcracker is a holiday classic brought to life through professional ballet dancers, live-narration, and special theatrical effects. Teachers are provided with downloadable resources related to content-standards. Students will have the opportunity for a Q and A session with the cast and crew to learn about the “magic” created during the performance and what it is like to put on a full-scale professional ballet production.
