K-5 Assemblies

North Pointe Ballet’s K-5 Assemblies consist of performance excerpts of full-length ballets by fully-costumed professional dancers, as well as movement activities to engage students in active learning led by NPB dancers and directors.

In North Pointe Ballet’s effort to make classical ballet accessible to everyone, NPB’s school assemblies engage students in a theatrical production differently than a traditional theater experience and offer them a chance to experience ballet up-close and learn what it means to be a professional dancer. Past tours have included excerpts from:

  • The Nutcracker

  • Cinderella

  • Peter Pan

  • The Sleeping Beauty

  • The Wizard of Oz

  • Beauty & the Beast

  • Peter & the Wolf

Each tour offers a unique focus, including pantomime, storytelling, character development, and healthy lifestyles.

Each program is 45-55 minutes in length and can be customized to accommodate schedule and audience needs. Compensation is requested but not required.

Swan Lake Field Trip

North Pointe Ballet makes classical ballet accessible to everyone by providing this field trip opportunity annually at a low cost to students. Swan Lake is a classic brought to life through professional ballet dancers, live-narration, and special theatrical effects. Teachers are provided with downloadable resources related to content-standards. Students will have the opportunity for a Q and A session with the cast and crew to learn about the “magic” created during the performance and what it is like to put on a full-scale professional ballet production.

Testimonials

I have been in education for 28 years. This is the first time in my career that I have seen over 200 students sit mesmerized for over an hour! Every single staff member commented on how amazing this program was and begged me to get them to come back!!!

You and your dancers were amazing! Our students and staff LOVED the performances! They’re the perfect balance of beautiful artistry and interactive opportunities. Plus, they allow all of our students to experience the ballet in a meaningful and successful way.”

“The performance was wonderful! Our students really enjoyed being involved in the pantomime so they could understand the story better as well as participate during the show!”

“We were so thrilled to have NPB come to our school. We were pleasantly surprised as to how well they did with our very young students. A great mix of performances, interactive moments and age-appropriate information was given.”

“Our principal commented on how engaged students were during the show. They were truly captivated by each moment! Teachers have been sharing how excited students have been in the classroom now when they hear Nutcracker music, see ballet, or a mention of the Nutcracker as the holiday season approaches. Students were even dancing in the halls on their way back to their classrooms. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us!”

Thank you so much for bringing your Wizard of Oz program to our school assembly! I was a little unsure of how my energetic first grade class would manage to sit through a ballet, but this experience was so interactive and engaging that my whole class was captivated the entire time! Even my most rowdy, rough and tumble boys didn’t want it to end and kept saying that they wished we could do it again! You are truly fulfilling your mission of making ballet accessible to all, and for that I thank you!

“Having NPB come to our school to work with our children was very beneficial since many of our children do not have transportation. The children and parents were very excited and felt it was an opportunity of a lifetime.”
