On-Site Dance Education

Typically running for 9 weeks with a one-hour class once a week, students participating in NPB’s On-Site Ballet Lessons get to experience the joy and artistry of classical ballet. In addition to teaching the fundamentals of ballet technique, weekly classes also aim to promote confidence, demonstrate respectful behavior and encourage creativity! Sessions conclude with a showcase to demonstrate skills students have learned. In some instances, this showcase may be performed alongside professional dancers in an NPB company community engagement or mainstage performance.

Taught by an NPB company member(s), goals for ballet lessons include:

  • Increase confidence in performance
  • Understand the values of working hard, never giving up, and doing your best
  • Learn what it means to do all things with excellence
  • Discover the influence of different cultures on ballet
  • Learn ballet terminology and history
  • Improve skills in endurance, core strength, flexibility, and balance

Testimonials

“We have partnered three seasons with North Pointe [Ballet] to bring after school dance classes to the youth in South Lorain. Our partnership has emphasized the valuable contributions that Latino Americans have made to the art of ballet and instilled a greater sense of pride into our participants.”

Monica SnipesProgram Director, El Centro

Everything was wonderful, very professional. We loved everything about the program from scheduling and being very sweet and understanding! Keep up the great work and thanks for keeping our youth busy and making them feel important, helping them to figure out what they want to do in life. This was very inspiring and motivational to us and our family!

I can’t thank you enough for the partnership and all you do for our students. Everyone was amazed with the performance yesterday and the munchkins were so proud of themselves.  Seeing the smiles, all the flowers, and feeling the joy makes all the hard work we do worth it. My heart was full and it was undoubtedly the highlight of my day.

Letitia LopezExecutive Director, Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center

This has given my daughter something to look forward to and social interaction. She was happy to be around other girls her age. I could not afford classes for her and this gave her an opportunity beyond just watching ballet YouTube videos. My two little ones were just so excited to be able to do ballet they only see on cartoons.
