NPB Dance & Diversity Scholarship Program

North Pointe Ballet’s Dance and Diversity Initiative was developed in 2017 as a commitment to increase the diversity of our company and student performers. NPB believes everyone in its audience should be able to see someone on the stage that resembles them.

The Dance and Diversity Scholarship was created to provide training and performance opportunities to dancers of color and began in 2017 with two scholarship recipients. To date, we have provided 14 scholarships to dancers of color. Scholarship recipients receive training with the cast and choreographers, mentorship from trainees, shoes and tights as well as complimentary tickets for performances.

Testimonials

“I love NPB because no matter what you do with them, you always feel like family, they treat you with respect and they are as honest as they can be with you. They teach you how to be responsible for yourself and they teach you how to take responsibility for your things (like your costume and all the things that you need for a performance!). If it is your first time working with them, you may feel shy at first but once you start opening up to them they’ll start to feel like family!”

Jaden2018 Scholarship Recipient

“I am so thankful for North Point Ballet because they have introduced  me to an amazing type of dance that is so graceful and beautiful. I am happy to be in NPB because they have helped me improve my dancing, form and ability to perform. It is so fun dancing for NPB! I was able to meet many new friends and be a part of a REAL dance company!  NPB has continued to inspire me to never give up and that is why I love it.”

Nevaeh2019 Scholarship Recipient

“I am so grateful for North Point Ballet because it has taught me new techniques and inspired my dance confidence. NPB has shown me to be confident and try new things in my dancing. I’ve  never had the opportunity to experience ballet until I came to NPB. I am thankful for their scholarship program that allowed my sisters and I to enjoy dancing and performing for a professional dance company! NPB has shown me to push myself to the best that I can be.  Dancing for NPB is really amazing!”

Aniyah2019 Scholarship Recipient

“I love NPB because NPB taught me how to leap! You guys keep shining your light and helping kids realize their dreams of dance!! You have inspired me to keep going and continue trying even when I wanted to give up because of my club foot. I have gone to several  Ballet classes and this one is my favorite one by far. That’s why I love North Point Ballet, the instructors and all the new friends I have made!”
